Baby Spa Perth

Baby Spa Perth is a sanctuary for babies (newborn to six months) and their parents, offering unique hydrotherapy sessions, baby massage and support. The Baby Spa uses a specially designed floatation device that supports babies in the water, allowing them freedom of movement that they would otherwise not experience.

Each visit to the Baby Spa involves a host of learning experiences, derived from both the water and massage. Care is given to provide the right amount of stimulation, with the baby’s age and individual sensory threshold in mind.

The flotation device is a lightweight device that fits loosely around a baby’s neck providing space for the ears and cheeks whilst supporting an infant of any weight safely and comfortably in water. Once it is fitted at the beginning of Baby Spa visits, the baby is placed in an individual neonatal pod or larger spa pool for up to 30 minutes of therapeutic immersion. Unaffected by gravity, the flotation device allows the baby to move freely and have fun in water, experimenting with and developing a range of movements at his/her own pace. Stimulating all the senses, the comforting experience strengthens muscles and bone structure of babies whilst providing an environment where they can build confidence in the water and learn to control their reflexes. The water immersion improves sleep quality, reduces discomfort from colic, wind and constipation whilst regular visits benefit the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Performed by expert support staff of neonatal and paediatric nurses, baby massages are given following the water immersion where parents can also learn the techniques.
